A Promise of Home

For this year's regional art exhibit, the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art is joining Family Promise of Shawnee in their quest to help homeless families with children. The title and theme for the exhibit is A Promise of Home. Artists from Shawnee, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and surrounding communities are participating by submitting artworks created from a variety of materials that reference home or homelessness. The purpose of the exhibit is to showcase the area's many talented artists and also to collect much-needed items for Family Promise. The organization could really use personal paper products so, if a visitor brings a roll of toilet paper, paper towels, or even personal hygiene items from November 5 - 21, they will not be charged for admission to the museum.

Christmas at the Depot

Christmas is not only a time for sweet treats and gift giving - it’s also a time for traditions and memories. During the month of December several Christmas trees will be on display at the Santa Fe Depot Museum. Some examples are the Aluminum Tree and the Home Made Memories Tree. The museum is asking anyone with “memorable” ornaments from the past, who would like to donate them or have them displayed, please call 405.275.8412.
